Hi Guys - I am based in Lanark, Scotland, and looking to acquire a Grenadier. I have driven various Land Rover, Jeep and Mercedes vehicles, as well as a petrol engined Grenadier, which I really liked. I look forward to benefitting from your collective experience, and am completely open to any comments any of you may have. There are many roads in our part of the world which go from tarmac to woodland track and even rougher, and places you can only access with a vehicle like this or a helicopter, and I don't like the idea of a helicopter. Petrol appeals more to me than diesel - I prefer the driving experience and the fuel consumption gap does not appear to be too wide. I am also planning some trips in the car to more remote regions, where I wonder if petrol will be more readily available. The Utility models seem cost effective but I am told they are Class N1 Commercial Light Vehicles - the vehicle will get private and business use. Is it easy to get insurance? What is the difference between these and Fieldmaster and Trialmaster models? What are the most useful options? These are some of the questions I am wondering about. I look forward to chatting with you in the future, and if I can answer any questions about our part of the world, I will be happy to do so.
I’ve just picked up a diesel, two seat utility grenadier, spec’d with the rough pack and smooth pack, roof rack and rock sliders, safari windows, it was a pre configured vehicle so also benefitted with a great saving being a zero miles MY23 or 23.5, only thing I can figure it doesn’t have are the ADAS safety systems that seem to irritate a lot of people anyway. I have had various LandRover Discoveries and latterly a Jeep Rubicon with fair bit of upgrade work on it, moving to the Grenadier has not been a disappointment so far. Insurance with Admiral 800 a year, If you are in Lanark, jump on the motorway and go and see the guys at Lloyds Allroad in Carlisle, great team who really know the product.

That’s very similar to mine, where did you get the red decal for the rear door, looks sharp 👌🏻
The red decal for bonnet and rear door are from "Diginate" they now have it as a pre set up item, since I think most forum members in the UK 🇬🇧 have used them as the suppliers

Hi David I had a Diesel Fieldmaster , a very early one I ordered on the day the order book opened. It came to me after 14 months in May 23. I put 2700 miles on it before I rejected it as filled with water. Whilst they built me a new one I was lent a Petrol trialmaster which I took on a 10 day trip up to Trossachs , Aran and Oban. The usual economy was 19mpg overall.
Now since May I have my new Diesel Fieldmaster which is a MUCH better build and drive. The best I have had so far is 28/29 mpg and usually 24/25. It has just done 3000miles. I found the petrol engine set up raced more but wasnt notably faster off the mark. Neither did any serious off road , but I know that i wouldnt want a petrol.

Thanks for that - is it OK to ask who you insure with? The Meerkat told me "this is not a car"! Another van based site wanted £2500.00 p.a. which is a no go. If this is not an acceptable question under the site rules, don't worry - I will find the answer somewhere.
I'm on with Admiral multi-car - no issue adding that. I can't remember the breakdown but I'm around £2,500 total with four cars and kids on two of those.

Had some ridiculous quotes one of 3K, Admiral was the best price on a multi vehicle policy £1258, with an additional vehicle and no baby goats🐐🐐🐐:D

Direct Line was ok, high excess. 8k limit (my choice - need to up it though). I’m dreading the renewal in December, having read some of the scare stories buzzing around!

That’s life.

Just renewed, NFU, business insurance, any driver over 25, £900.
Up about 10% from last year.

Try NFU, and with your postcode you shouldn't have any trouble.

My insurance is due for renewal on 1st December.
I’m currently with Admiral multi car (2 seat utility Grenadier and 2018 Ford Kuga).
Cost last year was £694 for Grenadier (8000 miles, wife and 2 sons added) and £440 (wife added) for Kuga.
Initial offer was £790 for Grenadier and £520 for Kuga. After phone call price dropped to £541 for Grenadier and £476 for Kuga. 😀
Well happy with the Grenadier, the average is good as well.
