After some research, I decided to purchase a modified RHINO RACK PIONEER PLATTFORM INEOS GRENADIER from Taubenreuther.

But I'm starting small and only have bought the BACKBONE KIT INEOS GRENADIER and 3 RECONN-DECK QUERTRÄGER 1650 MM,
to transport my roof tent, bike rack or canoes. With these first 3 Reconn Crossbars, I can flexibly build my own platform in the future.

My favorite was actually the solution from Black Sheep Innovations.
As my garage is too low, I need to be able to easily mount the roof rack myself if necessary. The BSI solution seems too complicated for that.

The backbone kit from Taubenreuther in combination with the Rhino Rack cross braces convinced me with:

-Price
- Flexibility for the future
-stability
- Mountability
- No mounting on rain gutter
- many accessories available.

Installation was really easy. Undo the top 12 INEOS screws on the grab rails and fit the back rails with 12 Taubenreuther screws. I am really impressed with these mounting points as they are firmly attached to the car frame. The backbones are powder coated steel and have 4 holes each, but I only used 3 of them for the crossbars.

I have not yet driven with the roof rack as I first had to find a solution for storing and mounting it on the Grenadier. I have described my solution
HERE

@Christian Hm, the Taubenreuther backbone is No. 1 on my list, as I have nearly the same situation... But I'll have a look at the rack of Offroad Tec...

Very nice and low profile. Lots of accessories from Rhino Rack, too. What's not to like?

I emailed Taubenreuther and at least for now they are not willing to ship to the United States. That’s unfortunate. I think it’s one of the best looking racks out there for the Grenadier.

Looks nice @Christian and I understand your setup and need however could you not have achieved the same with the Ineos OEM setup ? How is this different exactly ? I am not familiar with the mounting but am also looking for a roof rack (no roof tent requirement just storage for me) however am a little unsure as to the apparent wind noise the OEM Rhino Rack creates. Does the Taubenreuther design improve on this ?

How’s that working out for you @Alprider ? Also looking at getting a Teubenreuter rack. Any extra noticeable wind noise with the full rack when driving over 80 km/h ?
There’s a little bit of extra noise but not that noticeable tbh, once you get used to the raised air intake and tyre noise it all blends in 🙄
I think I’ll get a deflector at some point and a roller on the back.
It is pretty solid though, no problem putting a bunch of gear up there!

Has anyone from the UK bought from Taubenreuther for Rhino rack accessories? I’ve reached out to them, no response yet.

Fitted mine the other day, looks and feels solid

Still happy with this ?

I had a look an the only alternative I found was from Black Sheeep.
But their price of the two base elements and the middle part is eye-watering 🤯

Would you know how high it is in combination with the Rino rack ?
I have the original set of two Rino Rack bars, and was wondering if they match the hight (so I could re-use at least on for long loads)

Yes, no reason to skip the OEM factory Rhino rack.

I’ll get some measurements in a couple of weeks when I’m back home, ping me a reminder if you can?

Finally got around and ordered my Taubenreuther Backbone with Rino Rack.
I went for the short version to keep the safari windows free.
Shipping was fast as usual, and free in Austria 🥳

First impression : very solid and very easy to mount. And affordable - Very happy so far.
Around 30kg, leaves enough for the cargo.
No time yet to test the noise on the motorway.
Up to ≈ 100km/h there is NO noise what so ever that can be detected over the AT tyres.

Doesn't it lower the Rhino Rack profile, too?

The backbone and the Rino Rack add 6.5 cm to the car (from the black plastic rails on the roof.
I'm now at ≈ 208 cm, so still fine to use the (here typical) 2.1m parking decks.

Just have to remember if I have the roof tend mounted 🤔

Now back from holidays, 130km/h on the motorways. Still VERY quiet, could not say that I hear any additional noise.
WAY more silent than the 2 original Rino-Bars that I had mounted before.
