Hi all,

I posted recently with a few questions but am now at a stage where I’m about to take the plunge. It’s an April 23 registered Fieldmaster Diesel with added items (rough pack/diffs etc) and via main (UK) dealer. Low miles and not abused.

Given this is an early car, aside from the software issues and updates - are there any other key/critical considerations I should look for or get comfort from dealer they’ve been addressed - appreciate it’s under warranty but I don’t want to be constantly back and forth sorting things out.

Any help/guidance appreciated.

Thanks

I think you'll love it, as I do mine. Having recently got mine back after a 6 month tour of Southern Africa on a mixture of some pretty terrible roads, long corrugated dirt roads and beautiful smooth tar roads. It’s a pleasure to drive whatever you throw at it. Issues I’ve had over that time include, transfer box Bowden cables coming out of fixings and rubbing on prop shaft. Many on this forum are upgrading the support brackets to mitigate the risk of this happening. Also auxillary radiators constantly falling out of their fixing brackets. Newer iterations of the Grenadier have updated fixing brackets. Check if there is any movement in these radiators as if there is they will surely come out of the brackets on rough and corrugated roads. You can get your fingers in between the bumper and the light surround to check for any movement. IMG_0895.jpeg

Make sure it has the latest software update as this cures virtually all warning signs and noises that were apparent on early vehicles.

I’d second that. Mines an early one too. I’ve had a few minor issues but nothing has ever stopped me getting anywhere. The software update is a must but that will almost certainly have been done.

If its got the safari roofs check there haven't been any leaks or ingress from these, that the door seals have had the upgrade or the boot wash could be an issue but there will be the odd issue which will come to light hence is this dealer local to you as your relationship with them will be a key consideration. My dealer has been very supportive with courtesy cars when needed etc
