Put black headlight film on mine. Waiting for dark for a full test.

EDIT: this is the perfect solution! From outside the number plate looks like a car from 1995. It’s illuminated, but at a reasonable level and meets regulations. The factory lights are like mini fog lights and simply produce too much light. Now, through the factory backup camera you see very well with an orange hue from the tail lights. All the harsh glare is gone.

The bad: I bought two 2ftx2ft pieces. I’ll see if so can accurately measure the light and cut a bunch out.

my own idea was to glue or stew in a "shield" - tested it with duct tape and it worked.
So that's my plan B

I do use black tape to cover about 50% of the white led lights each. That lets still light up the number plate while most of the clare at the reverse cam has gone.
