A lot of reports of inaccurate fuel level readings, even after the software updates.

From memory reports by some owners is the fuel guage is fine (ie the bars), but the stated miles/kilometres to empty was out of whack.
Sorry, but I’d say bailing on a purchase because of this issue is just looking for an excuse to walk.

My 100 Series cruiser would sit showing past the full level for about 200km and then quickly drop to 3/4 and rhen slowly drop further. They all have their little odd characteristics but once you learn the pattern you just get on with it.

I would say that the gauge is not inaccurate - I would say that it is a little aggressive in telling you to "refuel soon" at a 1/4 tank.

I also think the MPG/Fuel Economy estimate system has a bit of self learning going on, and this is what you have heard about.

As you drive, it becomes more accurate.

The gauge itself (not the "Remaining Range" reading ) is accurate as it's driven off a level sensor in the fuel tank, just like every other vehicle. Remaining range will get better with time.

Ive run it all the way to 21.5 gallons - remaining range was 0 and the fuel gauge showed several red bars of remaining fuel. I believe the system has too little data to yet be accurate - especially folks on their first tank or two.

Post: reading stuff on forums is all fine and good, but you really have to take into consideration the author. Most people have no understanding of the automotive industry, only a surface level understanding of cars and often very little experience with new technology.

Do I often see errors about the lane sensing or speed sign reading, auto emergency braking, etc? Sure. It's not a gremlin, it's a dirty windshield - when the camera can't see the road, signs, etc. it tells you certain capabilities are diminished.

This is not unique to the Grenadier - though it may be new to the owner.

For example, my Disco V has many more cameras - and when driving for several hours in salt and snow, things like the blind spot monitor stopped working. There was no error, and once the car was washed, they worked again.

Googling "dirty windshield camera error" will reveal some interesting stories.

I'm not a mechanic, but an active auto enthusiast and hobbyist - I do work in the technology industry, and have spent the last 20 years hanging out in garages and with professional mechanics for Nissan, Infiniti, Mercedes and independent European shops.

I do want to support a point made by other posters.

Forums can become a bit of an echo chamber, especially if there is a complaint about something. But i would be hesitant to judge the entire pool of vehicles based on the few reports of issues you read here. The newness of the car tends to amplify issues found in a few cars. If the entire population would have significant issues then we would have a much louder forum with complaints. So far it seems like its mostly one-off issues i've seen in the MY24 North America deliveries (ADAS pain point, which really isn't a defect, excluded).

If anything, the issues i've read about here has given me more rather than less confidence. I was worried about the stuff i heard from early english/australian deliveries about lockers not engaging, or even worse, not disengaging. Water intrusion from poorly designed weatherseals etc. So far there has been crickets in those areas so i feel quite a bit better. I have heard very few talk about limp mode and having to be towed on a flatbed.

my few cents. Maybe i'm a fanboy but that is how i read it. Still waiting for my delivery... :)

FWIW a UK diesel Trialmaster at 9,000 miles.

The fuel gauge is not particularly accurate, it takes a long while to move off full and then from half empty plummets. The remaining range by contrast appears to be completely accurate, and unlike any other car I have owned. I refilled mine last night with 35 miles of remaining range and I got 82 litres of diesel in. Pretty spot on.

in reply to other messages on the thread; I have not had the software update and so get a few spurious error messages. Other than that the car has given no trouble whatsoever and several friends are considering buying one having been in mine. It is a unique vehicle and, for its particular purpose (heavy off-roading, carrying lots of stuff around, treating roughly), there is no competition in the UK.

I've had the opposite experience. 65 miles remaining on projected range but I had 8 1/2 US Gallons still in the tank. The digital bars seems to be very accurate and have a predictable linear decline.

As many have said the computer may still be calibrating through these first tanks - Mine not yours, you have 8,500 miles more than I do at this point.

Again, one thing to keep in mind is the comparison between MY23 and MY24, as the HMI firmware is totally different. With the understanding that the firmware levels are different, it would seem logical that the HMI unit itself is different for MY24

Fuel gauge and HVAC issues (which to me are the biggest problems) seem to be happening on both MY23 and 24, before and after software updates. From the many threads on it, it can be either the remaining range, gauge, or both.

I still want a Grenadier but I think I need you brave souls to guinea pig it first.

To be fair, a 350mi drive to a dealer for a first-year manufacturer really is quite minimal in comparison to the vast majority of the country. In 5 years (or even 2 years), these distances will certainly get shorter, but still, it is a niche (fairly) low volume manufacturer, and something that is to be expected.

As far as a NorCal dealer, there will definitely be one, the market is too large to not have a dealer, and if I were taking a guess, I would imagine it will be open in the first half of this year

I fully recognize this isn’t an IA dealer, but this is why dealer protection legislation should be reviewed.

Wow! I thought it's dealership in Australia! Is this even legal in the US???

If I believed all the stuff I read here, I would never buy a Grenadier. I have a 2023 model and don't seem to suffer from all these gremlins. Do you think we have some Land Rover or Toyota employers on site spreading misinformation or is it the Russians?

:) I actually like seeing, and appreciating, all the posts - good or not so good. I think the posts are all pretty much true as I don't feel that any one of us will manufacture something that we do not experience - we're just stating what we've seen and experienced. And, all these help IG to look at this forum and make some fixes. Keep 'em coming I say.
