Many parts are like Britain , minus the crowds.
Other parts are unlike anywhere.
I have friends and relatives on the mainland. It is somewhere the wife and me really need to consider visiting. Many thanks for the offer.

Sorry guys. I had announced that I would get back to you with more experiences. Unfortunately, something came up. I was just on the road with my Series 2a for about 100 km and then saw that brake fluid was leaking out in the footwell and that everything was oily on the bulkhead in the interior at the same time. Now I has to fix it. Then it's on to the Grenadier. By the way, my crimping tool arrived today.

Just heard that my “agent” has received his demonstrators “ so looking to get a test drive next week - have ordered after being on a demo day with a prototype with passenger drive and seeing a production vehicle but good to test out the “Harry” “issues” for myself and make my own decision whether the footwell, steering , turning circle are so bad - I am already comfortable I do not share his irritation with the twin doors !!

It’s booked for next Friday and he has a petrol engined demo on BFG so that will be a good one to try as it’s what I have ordered - I’m comfortable with it off road after the earlier test - now more interested in whether I can live with it on road

It's funny how old cars start to play up when a new one arrives...

Rather than acting up, my 4Runner is mysteriously improving it's gas mileage as the grenadier inches closer. 0.1 better since the test drive, then another 0.1mpg tick better since the US configurator went live. It knows something is up. Maybe I'll be getting something close to manufacturer spec by the time I take delivery.

OK, let's have a bit of fun, I posted on the French section of the forum my impressions of my first 5000 km, half the distance of @Ingemar , mostly similar stuff but also some different opinions.

As I am a lazy guy, I will post my prose here too, but translated by google without any modification, I am curious of the result, and you are allowed to ask me to correct the translation :devilish:

My first 5000 km with my Grenadier or is it “my” Grenadier?
Let me introduce myself, I am Belgian, from a Walloon father and a Flemish mother, perfectly bilingual, finally … perfection does not exist, not for the Grenadier either. Yes, 70 = seventy for me and 90 = ninety, unfortunately 80 = eighty, I would have preferred eighty, "once". Finally why not 60 = fifty-ten? 😉
I am retired, but continue to work as a sworn interpreter for the public services in Belgium, because I speak 5 languages, the hazards of life. I drive enough miles to do my paid hobby as an interpreter, because people ask me all over Belgium.
It was not my job, I am an engineer by training. I have lived on three continents. And I have 4X4 experience, without claiming to be a specialist.
I am the first Belgian to have "seen" his Grenadier on February 18, 2023, and the 6th to have received it, me on May 4!
And I went to visit my youngest son, his wife and my granddaughter in Hungary for the past two weeks, going on German autobahns, limiting my speed to 120 km/h then ordinary roads in Czechia and Hungary, returning only from ordinary routes in Hungary, Austria and Germany.
My Grenadier is a Trialmaster, with winch, sunroofs and tinted windows, petrol version.
In the review below, I will use English technical terms, as I left the language on my dashboard in English.

The good points:
• Super nice cars
• Powerful motor
• Good handling
• Of course, plenty of cargo space
• Sunroofs (optional on some models) not only allow the car to be ventilated but also to see the traffic lights when they "hang over the head" and a vehicle blocks the view of the position light normal.
• The speed displayed on the central information screen is not a handicap, it's almost natural and “big”, you can't miss it!
• Seats are comfortable

Bad points or other comments subject to improvement.
• The left mirror is very difficult to position in the blind spot, unless you put it a little too low (towards the asphalt)
• The user manual is incomplete (for example open the cover in the high position!)
• Despite promises no access to technical documentation
• Without running boards, even for me who is tall, a bit difficult to get on board
• There is a difference of approximately +5% between the speed displayed by the Grenadier and the actual “GPS” speed.
• Lots of error messages on startup, but when there aren't any, “there aren't any”, I mean, error messages aren't! This distracts the driver and in addition, the day that the message will be serious, we will no longer believe it!
• The messages are, often not all at once, but separately: “transmission error”; “PDC error”; “Power steering error”; "eCall erorr", "Airbag system error", "washer fluid low", I don't think I forgot anything. Only the last one is normal, but it is strange, it appeared even when I had not consumed windshield washer water, that water evaporates!
• The electrical connector on the roof on the right, which should be activated by the "EXT2" button is activated by the "INT1" button (I don't know if this is the case on other vehicles)
• I have a slight infiltration of water through the "dashboard" ventilation system, on the right side of the passenger door or on the left side of the driver's door depending on the inclination of the vehicle (after a night of rain for example).
• The information screen system (“infotainment system”) is often very slow to react, whether visual (switching from normal mode to 4X4 information) or vocal (noise of the distance sensors) could activate the audio screen, etc.
• When you put the headlights on automatically, it takes too long before the headlights come on, particularly annoying in tunnels or car parks (as long as you can enter car parks with its height of 2m03)
• When the audio is paused (for example when listening to music on a USB key, the system does not remember that it has been paused, and plays the music after switching the ignition back on!
• The "remaining kilometers" alarm is activated too quickly when the fuel is low (before ¼) and no longer indicates the estimate of the remaining kilometers towards the remaining 60 km, which in Europe is far too conservative.
• The viewing angle of the rear view camera is too low, it should be wider.
• Back in my country after two weeks of absence, I had to reprogram all the pre-programmed radio stations before my departure!

So, conclusions...
It's not because my list of points to improve is long that I'm not happy with the car, quite the contrary! I am really satisfied.
On the other hand, I am extremely disappointed with the communication with Ineos (directly or through my distributor)! As a guinea pig, I would have liked open, honest and fast communication, even if it is to sometimes answer: “we don’t know”. For the moment the communication is “everything is going very well Madame la Marquise” and for the rest nothing at all! The questions generally remain unanswered.
Fortunately there is the forum: the English-speaking part contains a treasure of information!

Thank you for taking the time Jean, very much appreciated. I'm going to say I can live with or accept all of the 'shortcomings' that you describe as most should be able to be rectified but then I reflect that this is a $120000+ AUD car.... what the? From that list the most concerning for me is the poor communication, a lacking operators manual, no technical docs as promised and the water ingress. I'm still looking forward to getting my hands on one in August (perhaps) as all the specs suit my purpose like no other. Thanks again.

For those of you with the petrol version, have you been disappointed with the power output?

I’m a big fan of the B58 and ZF8 but I’m used to them in vehicles that weigh significantly less.

While it isn't a rocket ship, power hasn't been a complaint from any of the reviews I have read. While it has similar HP to a 4runner (widely panned as underpowered), it delivers max at 4750rpm rather than 5600 or the 4runner. The torque is 50 lb-ft better than the 4runner, and is available at 1750-4000 rpm rather than 4400 like the 4runner. Yay turbos.

I did a test drive with a petrol engine last week. I currently have a 540 ix and a Z4M40i. and, until recently, an X5 3.0 diesel. the G is more than sufficiently motorized

I hope you get to the bottom of this water problem and that it's not a common issue with the IGs. Looking at the vehicle I suspect it could be the flat upright windscreen design combined with the extra wide gutters which might be overwhelming the drainage where it turns to meet the windscreen at the front. And with more water concentrated to one side when on a lean it can't cope. The test might be to prop the front of the vehicle on chocks and slope the gutters to the rear in the next lot of rain.

I could not tolerate another 4WD with water leaks, especially one at this price. I could never find the source in my Troopy (happened from new) and just accepted it as being a commercial type vehicle. It would pool in the passenger footwell after rain. Toyota's cheap insulation underlay under the vinyl would take a week to dry and had to removed. I always suspected the flat upright windscreen and inadequate drains in the bottom of the windscreen frame, evident when replacing the windscreen.

@Jean Mercier I am highly suspicious re the water leaks about the fact that they had to do some rectification work on the wipers before delivery. Unless others start having this issue I would be looking to see if they have stuffed something up when they pulled it apart and replaced the wiper mechanisms.

Yes ~ with no doubt a degree of self interest in not wanting to open another Water Ingress Manual in my life, I suspect/hope that this is the cause of @Jean Mercier's water problem.

Its a pleasure to drive and is BIG!! and very very happy overall,

2 weeks so far and here is a copy of the fault log Jardine's say Don't worry all is fine and will be sorted at the software update and fitting of missing side steps and picknick table.

I would be in a right mess taking the Grenadier for a UK MOT with all this stuff popping up.

I would endorse Jean Mercier's comments, espically the missing side steps !!! with the exception of sun roofs - dont have them,

Current consumption 29.1 UK miles to UK gallon

I really love the function to switch from Miles to Kilometres for the speed ace. - currently in Normandy with the jeep [1942 version] which it towed here like a dream

The one thing that really bugs me is the misalignment of small door to the 30% seat that is a real basic schoolboy error and such a missed opportunity.

I hadn't considered the fuel tank not moving off full whilst a number of miles was driven; but I guess 98 is quite a lot. I think mine may be doing something similar. I've only filled up once and stopped filling completely at the first pump auto cutoff.
