Sorry, I thought this was meant to be a joke post when I first read it, and wondered whether it should be in the Daily Joke thread on this forum.
No, the concerns are real. My mate cancelled about a three weeks ago after his 2nd test drive. Was not comfortable for them at 185cm.
I hope I'm ok a t 177cm in the real vehicle

I feel sorry for you that at this stage of the wait, you are not convinced...I personally think it is a waste of time and effort for you now...I would have to be convinced before purchasing and not waste any more of my time, writing, reading and wondering...wait for a production car and test driving that is what I will be doing...I am 99% there...happy motoring;)
Why... I can always sell this (not that I want that outcome of course!). I want this to be a great vehicle but could be outright time waste! Nonetheless, faith!
You will be waiting a very long time btw haha.. at a cost premium!

It’s not a matter of “the faithful have spoken” it’s a matter of the design is what it is and no matter how much people complain, the engineering involved with changing it now means no matter how much people complain it isn’t changing on this platform. So now it’s just a matter of an individual decision as to whether you think you can live with it. I have decided I think I can and so am going forward. Others will likely make a different decision and thats up to them.
I am surprised the passenger footwell is a problem in a LHD vehicle.
As the passenger doesn't have to reach the wheel or pedals they can just wind their seat up and push it back.

Looking at possible obtrusions into cabins is one of the early design phase QA checks, the first thing you do, when designing cars/boats/planes (old man is a boat builder so in CAD models this stuff is always overlaid in, checked now in 3D models etc etc). It was a design oversight and it got away from them (was ignored). It was picked up in the early prototypes and all they had to do was adjust ""SOMETHING" 75mm as that's the offset in plane from pedal to rest. Problem solved. It is VERY annoying that this anticipated vehicle has such an obvious f*** up. Sorry to say but anyone accepting this as 'ok or suitable' is blind or numb in a few hip joints and we got to call out some of the rose-tinted glasses from time to time... it will become apparent when you're not doing a 15-minute hilly run, and instead, a 1hr+ straight road stint.

For most, it will come down to the first few long trips and if its 'bearable' or not. If not, sell it. If bearable, keep it. Having said that, the footwell is not 'acceptable' in its current form but could be bearable.

Still waiting for my Contract!

PS: I am just mad the vehicle I want dearly might end up being a wasted time (waiting) as I will sell if not comfortable and go for the 'old' Cruiser.
Oh, I hadn’t realised your Dad knows stuff. That changes everything! Cancelling my order.

First time sitting in one today at Avalon.

The footwell intrusion is completely unacceptable for me.

The only way forward for me would be to cut the dpf, modify the exhaust, cut out the footwell intrusion and patch it all up again flat.
Have you considered just trimming your left foot a bit?

Am I the only one who wonders how long it is possible to discuss about something that is not changeable due to good reasons?
If it is a no go than please stop going. If it is not than please stop saying that it is not acceptable.

Hey DaveB, have we got a photo of Production LHD (passenger) footwell? My wife would kill me if that footrest was on her side...
Quietly confident that @trobex doesn’t mind a wind up.
What makes you think that..

Don't cancel on my advice - it's not like the tape measure was wrong on the day! Blame the numbers!
US Marine Corps:
The expeditionary mindset implies a Spartan attitude: an expectation and a willingness to endure—in fact, a certain pride in enduring—hardship and austere conditions.

While not a Marine I’ve got a little bit of ‘Spartan attitude’ in relation to the footrest. Willingness to endure. :)
Where the Grenadier will be going - deserts, mountains, jungles - it will be the least of concerns.

No disrespect to those who find it to be a showstopper. I’m sure future series will resolve.

FWIW I am 6’5” and was considering bailing because of this issue. When I sat in a PT02 I was perfectly comfortable. It is not ideal that one can’t occasionally stretch the left leg but I can certainly live with it over long journeys (regularly up to 6 hours in the car visiting rural land all over the country).

Agreed with both both sides of the fence here. Yes it shouldn’t be there full stop, but it is, and I hope it is not going to be a problem but I have a feeling it might be on a long drive. People always moaned about the off set pedals in a defender, but I never really noticed it. What I did notice in the defender was the lack of room for your right arm (RHD) and I think the IG is going to suffer the same fate with the footwell. it will always be brought up about the footwell bump and spoken about just like the defender elbow scenario.

What I don’t get in the LHD vehicle is people asking about their “poor” passengers who will have to suffer this horrible intrusion. unless you have ordered dual controls there won’t be two pedals on the passenger side so if said passenger moans tell them to move their right foot over by 6” and they will find that they can stretch their leg out as usual !! I totally concede the width of the footwell might not be up to the usual expected from the extremely large vehicles that some countries drive but there should be enough to stretch out and keep both feet on the same plane which also seems to be part of the problem.

It’s not ideal and if a real problem I will have to sell it rather than getting the angle grinder out and cutting the floor pan out as has already been suggested.
