Good eye! If the "slight body mods" needed to run 35" tires is just the high clearance fender flares, that's great news. Sure hope this becomes an option in the configurator and when it comes time to spec for order.

Ooh well spotted. I was worried that the 35/ will kick up a lot of debris because they stick out a fair bit. The wheel arches should definitely help.

Maybe a skinny tire will fit better, without as much concern with rocks being thrown up, or rubbing. We really don't know much about fitting larger tires yet...

There aren't a lot of skinny tires that are 34-35 inches in diameter; "skinny" here meaning 10-11 inches wide. Here are a few offerings on 17-inch wheels:

BFG makes the KO2 in 34x10.5 R17, with actual dimensions: 33.5 inches tall by 10.6 inches wide. This is exactly one inch shorter than their 35x12.5 R17 version (actual dimensions: 34.5 inches tall by 12.5 inches wide).

Cooper makes the ST MAXX (which is a great AT tire) in LT 285/75R17, with actual dimensions: 34.06 by 11.1 inches.

Nitto makes the Trail Grappler in 35x11.5 R17, with actual dimensions: 34.76 by 11.42 inches. But this is a MT tire (not an AT tire).

My current favorite tire is the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT. It's available in 285/75-17, measuring 33.82x11.5 on an 8" wide wheel. Old rule of thumb is that for each 1/2" of rim width, you can add/subtract 0.2" of section width, so on the 17x7.5" wheels shown on the prototype tour, that's more like 11.3" section width.

Not pizza cutters, but not mud bogger bro dozer tires, either.

I'm a fan of Cooper Tires in general; nice to hear that you have had a good experience with the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT. This is how Cooper describes the tire, for anyone who is interested:

Since we're veering a bit...

I replaced BFG KO2s with the Discoverer AT3 XLTs on my Tundra. The wet pavement grip difference is night and day - KO2s are not confidence inspiring, but these Coopers sure are. And through a couple winter seasons and some mild off-roading, I feel like I give up nothing in snow/slush/gravel/grass/rocks as compared to the KO2s as well. And the best part for all us old guys - the Coopers are nearly silent. By 40k miles, the KO2s were so loud I needed to replace them. I'm super happy with the Coopers and won't go back.

So while I will probably order my Grenadier on KO2s, they'll be a place holder until I figure out if I want to change wheels, and definitely will get replaced by Coopers at some point.

I am curious as to what size tires Grenadier used on the green prototype in the Namibia trails ideos. One had regular KO 2's and the green one had what looked like 35's with Goodyear tires and a different alloy rim, assuming 18". I am wondering what that was with the thought of matching that down the road. I like that rim design too.

Some nice wide 33's would probably fit my desires. I just wonder what the factory wheel spec is (I haven't seen anything posted on the FB groups on the width, only every other possible measurement of the rims). 17 x 7? 17 x 8? I was casually browsing the internet looking for a 17" wheel with the same 55 (mm?) offset as the OEM Grenadier wheel and basically came up with nothing on several 4x4 accessories websites like 4 wheel parts.

I would be interested to know why you want wide 33” tyres. Is it for the looks or for a specific purpose?

Same question. as Logsplitter. Bumping up in tire-height to 33-inches will add a little weight and mass - obviously not a lot - but a skinny 33 might have less impact on acceleration and braking than a wide 33, and it will still give you a little extra clearance under your diffs and the gas-tank skid plate (which I think is the actual low-point on the vehicle). This has been a topic of much debate on the forum, but I am of the opinion that the gas-powered Grenadier does not have a lot of power to give away (not at 6,000 pounds if you add a winch and rock rails). When you drop air pressure for increased traction off-road, most of the added tire footprint is in the length of the tire-spread, not in the width of the tire-spread - so a "tall skinny" tire gives you plenty of added grip-surface (when compared to a tire of same height but a little wider).

Jumping up from standard K02 at 31.6" diameter to the largest there at 33.3" diameter is a huge increase of 0.85" or 21.5mm ground clearance.
Hardly seems worth the effort and cost to me.
Of course if you add a lift and get some aggressive offroad tyres because that is your use case, or you like the look, then it's your money, your vehicle, your decision.

One question to be asked (maybe already answered):
Will there be an option to program in different rolling diameters (i.e revs per mile) to correct speedo, etc? My G-wagen allows a (limited) selection. I run Yokohama Geolander AT's 275/65R18's (32" vs stock 30.5") and I was able (with my mechanics computer) to compensate. My D90 runs on 33" BFG MT 285/75R16 (33.1" vs stock 31.7") and could do a mechanical gearing on the speedo output, but never bothered.
Hoping the IG has the ability to reprogram!

There's many a man would be very happy with an extra 21,5 mm...............

But in reality, it does make a difference in rough terrain. Aired down, the contact patch is a good bit larger...
