What sort of club do people want - events/outings/trips

Hi all, as this is a new club to this site, (its been on Facebook for much longer) and now we have an appreciable number of owners @Zartoon and I had a bit of a chat this morning. One thing that came up was the idea of which type of events members of the SCIC would like to see the club promoting, organizing and attending.

Obviously there's a lot of different things going on in SoCal but here are a few to get the ball rolling.

• Cars and Coffee events with other vehicle owners
• Evening get togethers for SCIC members (local pizza joint/cafe etc)
• Day trips with the option of camping/staying close to the action for the day
• Multi day trips with camping
• Larger events Queens English car show etc

Obviously there's a lot more to this, we are just trying to get an idea of what people want out of a club with regards to events , participation and quite frankly how much effort people want to make. Some people are all about off-roading on multi day trips and some are happy with a pizza and beer catchup and taking about transfer box cable runs, some are happy being part of a club and not physically attending anything, I love it all but everyone has their preferences.

So please discuss and chime in, we'd love hear your ideas.

I'd prefer more off-roading orientated events of varying challenge levels ... with a few cars and coffee style things thrown in. A spattering of day trips and multi day trips.

My wife and I are accustomed to solo adventuring... so we will also make an effort to schedule into club events and to invite club members on our trips.

In addition to actual overlanding trips (of various length), I would also value local “technical” meet-ups, where experts can add to our knowledge about the Grenadier. Topics could include:
-Maintenance inspection items that all owners can be aware of and look out for
-Latest Service Bulletins and Safety Recalls
-Modifications/equipment that other members of this club can display and discuss
-Practice of basic owner skills such as changing a tire
-Exchange of techniques and ‘tips’ that owners can use to fix problems without particular mechanical skills or tools. Example: Holding the Mute Button long enough to reset the touchscreen display.
-Group planning for upcoming trips on roads and trails.
-Presentations by vendors and equipment suppliers.

I will be the first to point out that finding (an all-weather) venue for these meetings is a huge issue!

I would like day/multi day trip off road events with a few coffee or pizza meet and greets.
