British Car Festival 2024

WHEN: Sunday, September 8, 2024
Show event — 9:00AM to 3:00PM
Registration — 9:00AM to 12:00PM
Valve Cover Racing — 11:00AM
Awards — 3:00PM

WHERE: Harper College
1200 West Algonquin Road
Palatine, Illinois 60067-7398

WHO: Any British auto or motorcycle qualifies and may be registered to participate. All registrant show vehicles must carry valid and current registration and insurance coverage per state liability requirements!

COST: Early registration (until August 25, 2024) is just $25.00 for the first vehicle and $10.00 per additional vehicle!
Late Registration (after August 25, 2024 and day of event) is $30.00 and $10.00 per additional vehicle.
Event polo and tee shirts should be pre-ordered due to on site shirt supplies being very limited.
Add $10.00 to cover postage for shirts only if ordered without registration.

Any individual can attend to view as a spectator free of charge.

HOW: Select “Register” in the above menu to register your British car or motorcycle.

FOOD: British and American food are available on site

AWARDS / TROPHIES: All registrants eligible for Peoples Choice awards. Categories based on pre-registrations. Classes for popular marques. Balloting from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. View the Car Classes.

ALCOHOL / SMOKING: Harper College is Smoke Free Campus. Rules also specifically prohibit all alcoholic beverages on the grounds. The British Car Union expects complete cooperation of all registrants, guests and spectators.

DOGS: No Dogs or Other Animals, on or off leash are allowed on Harper College grounds. Harper College allows service animals individually trained to perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability in accordance with ADA laws.

REGISTRANT PARKING: Registrant’s cars will be arranged by marque.

SPECTATOR PARKING: Spectator parking/admission is available by voluntary donation to support Shelter, Inc. Handicapped parking is available.

PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC IN SHOW AREA: Bicycles, scooters (all types including “Hover Boards”), roller skates/blades, Segways, skateboards, pogo sticks, horseback / camel riding, and other means of non-medical pedestrian assistance will not be allowed in the show car area out of respect for providing safe viewing of the many classic vehicles.

I have been meaning to go to the British Car Festival. This year, I will try to make it. I have a 61 Jaguar etype I have been meaning to take out there. Now I can literally trailer my etype with the Grenadier, kind of like a two package deal w two British cars! It will be cool.

Where are you in Illinois? I am in Naperville.

I talked to the organizers last week so they can add Ineos to the entry.

Very cool Jaguar you have there!

I brought my '91 D90 last year to the show too.

Very cool! I will definitely bring the ineos this year then. I am getting my tow hitch put on next week so I will trailer my Etype. Here is a photo of it.

I am in the Old Town Historic District (Lincoln Park). Also interested to attend CBCF event!
Too far to trek my '89 LR 110 (sold Disco 2) which resides full-time near Traverse City, MI (unless I too choose to tow with Grenadier.

I have kept a list of Forum Members that specified IL (see below, several very recent)
I had planned to create a "Lake Michigan" group targeting Chicagoland, MI and WI (but still awaiting my IG)!
That territory may be too large so pleased to join this IL group and share Forum members with you.
In Fall 2025 Michigan will be our 6+ month primary residence (sell Chicago) with winters spent in SoCal.
Bi-annual Grenadier cross-country trips to/from NoMI to SoCal

Instead of creating another group, maybe we can rename this as Lake Michigan?

We can invite members who don’t have a big presence in their state to join us.

I am totally fine with this.
The more, the merrier.

Not fun part of IL is that there are no off-road venues.
There are 1 or 2 events held at Byron IL (Nuclear Crawl) which is open to all makes of vehicles but I don't think I will bring my IG there in the near future. I usually bring my LR3 to that event.

I've registered for this event.
There won't be a separate area for the IG since they need at least 6 registrants before the event.
For now, if we are less than 6, we will be allocated to the Mixed Marquee area.

Hopefully, there will be more interest.

BCU just emailed asking the validity of the Ineos being a British car.
I had to provide some info on the discussion here.

I will know if they will approve it.

The BCU has replied back and will now allow the Ineos Grenadier into the British Car Festival.
So we will be at the Mixed Marquee Class if there are less than 6 cars.

I am usually around those areas from time to time.

I have only seen one Grenny so far, at O'Hare and he was a few vehicles behind me. Not sure if he spotted me.

No update yet from Knauz.

We are across Jensen (Mixed Marquee) and hopefully can squeeze in with the LRs, if they say yes.
I have a D90 there also.
