A82 Glasgow to Spean Bridge in winter

I'm looking at a holiday property near Spean Bridge, going after Christmas and returning on 3rd.
I have been snowed in many years ago at the same time of year up at Helmsdale but the main A9 was kept open. Does anyone have experience of this road especially from Loch Lomond to Spean Bridge at this time of year? Obviously I will be in the Grenadier which has the KO2's fitted. Will I need anything extra other than a shovel and grit bag

There are alternate routes south from Spean Bridge. Either across to the A9 or south on the A82 to Ballachulish and the coast road to Connel (Oban).
The main problem you will have is if the authorities close the roads, can’t see you talking you’re way passed a closed snow gate.
The above options just give you a better chance by avoiding the highest areas.

Thanks, alternative routes help with deciding, what's the time difference? Was wondering if sticking to A9 might be slightly safer towards Aviemore area although this can occasionally get closed but re-opens pretty quickly. It was over 20 odd years ago last time with 3ft-4ft snow drifts and had to dig our way to the A9 from up a single track road. Sadly only had a Volvo 340 back then. Narrowed it down to about 5 properties.
We do first week of December Aberdeen-ish to Aviemore via the Lecht, that was interesting last year!!
Does anyone know what you are supposed to do if you can't get to where you are going and heading back isn't feasible either?
I'll just put some high vis stickers on and tell them I've been sent to pull people out, worth a try

If it’s not the snow gates, it’s the jack-knifed lorries or unprepared numptys blocking the road. If in a real pickle the A82 goes on North to Inverness and you can take the very long coastal road round - petrol might be more expensive than your holiday . Looks like Arkaig has a Spean Bridge postcode as his location, so he’s the person to ask.
